Just like the landscape, the buildings in Starrett City are well maintained. In the 90's, the windows for the buildings were all replaced with new ones. Facade work has been done to the exterior as well.
In general, the hallways for each floor are usually clean. The walls are devoid of graffiti and there is no liter to be found, of course there might be exceptions. Residents will not find it unusual to see janitors mopping the hallway floors and occassionally waxing them.
Each building has two elevators and two emergency stair exits.
The emergency staircases can be quite grimey, especially in a building with a lot of young people. They are usually a place to hang out, drink and smoke. You can find cigarette butts, dried vomit, urine, and things of that nature.
Each floor has a janitors closet and a trash compactor.
The mailboxes are located in the lobby of each building as well as a laundry room. Starrett does not permit residents to have their own washing machines in their homes.
